The hosts were super helpful: they know the area very well and are able to give up-to-date information and recommend places to go (or suggest modification to our plans) as well as the best way to get there (thus saving us valueable time we would have spent travelling). The place is surrounded by forest and there are no sounds of traffic, so we slept really well. Breakfast is tasty and when the weather is good, you can take it outside in the freh air and sun.
The extra touch to our stay was that the hosts offered to give us a better room in another building at no extra cost since our stay coincided with a big group of people arriving on the same day as us and the original room we were supposed to be in was in the bigger building taken by the group. I mean, the room was still there and unoccupied, but the hosts decided to give us extra privacy which was very considerate.

First, I'd like to note that we've got a higher class cottage - Javorina Comfort - for the same price (because of an error in a booking system). This comfort cottage has everything you need (refrigerator, electric stove, dishes, microwave). There are few nice restaurants nearby and one small grocery shop. Sucha Bela trail starts right behind the cottage. The camping territory is clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend this place.

We loved our stay! It is even better than the pictures! The view from our room was absolutely magical and everything was super clean and well maintained. The owners were lovely and the breakfast was big with hot & cold and savoury & sweet options offered every day. The village is super cute and perfectly located for access to all parts of the Slovak Paradise and the southern parts of the Tatras.

The pension is located in a really nice village, peaceful in the evening yet busy during the day, and surrounded with nature. The host is very kind and speaks a little French. Dinner and breakfast were very good and traditional.

A great small town!
A great small town! Lots of shops and a great point to travel to Paradise park and castle in Spissky Podhradie by train... Great stay! Not hard to get around and a tourist office is a bit forward, on the left street from the stay... Nice! I recommend it!

These clean and modern apartments are stunning.
These clean and modern apartments are stunning. They are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable self catered stay. The host left lots of personal touches which were very much appreciated.
We chose an upstairs apartment for the balcony and a better view. This was the case, however there is still a lot of building work being carried out opposite which kind of ruined it.
The check-in was easy and explained well via a message. But unfortunately because this address isn’t registered on Google Maps yet, it’s a bit difficult to find. It is actually down an unmarked gravel lane. Easy once you know this, but the host didn’t mention this beforehand.
The area its self is perfect for exploring the National park. We did one of our walks from the apartment it’s self.
The apartment is going to be part of a holiday complex which will be very luxurious when finished. I think that it is reflected in the price currently charged (unfinished).
We really enjoyed our stay here. Thank you.

Dedinky is a very nice and calm town at the foot of the hills of the Slovak paradise. The lake is great for swimming (though the water is cold) or for renting a boat and exploring the lake a little. The Dobsina Ice Cave can easily be reached by train, and there are several nice hiking tours starting from Dedinky.

The entire Spissky Region is absolutely beautiful. You can visit the large Castle ruins or explore the amazing Slovak Paradise National Park. All the villages around are also very interesting and you can see the majestic Tatra mountains nearby.

Small village at the border of Slovensky Raj. Good starting position for hiking and easy to access the whole Slonesky Raj by car. It is just 30 min. to Podlesok, Cingov on the oposite site of this national park.

We did not explore the village a lot, as we usually drove to the Slovak Paradise or Tatra Mountains and we did the shopping in Poprad. There is a Greco-Catholic church and a trail featuring a bunker from WW2. We did not notice any slums or social issues, as opposed to other villages further north.

I loved Spisska Nova Ves.
I loved Spisska Nova Ves. The old part of the town is very pretty and it is a short train ride to Poprod and from there to the mountains, which are beautiful. I wish I'd been able to stay here longer.
And I loved the art gallery. Not big but some really interesting exhibits.
Spisska is easy to walk around and the restaurants are great and not expensive.
The only thing I would avoid is the person in the park trying to convert me to their religion. But that is not Spisska's fault.

Hrabusice is an excellent base for hiking at the Slovensky Raj or High Tatras. It is also close to many historical sites. We loved staying at Ubytovanie at Emka. It was our second time in three years. It is a short walking distance to Restauracia u Hudaka that serves freshly cooked delicious meals at a great price.

Dedinky is on the south side of Slovak Paradise National...
Dedinky is on the south side of Slovak Paradise National Park. It has a "bite-sized" hike that takes about two hours (or three hours for an extended version). The hike includes metal ladders and metal platforms through the gorge. (Longer more adventurous hikes can be found to the north of the national park).
The reservoir by Dedinky village has boats for rental, alternatively you can go for a swim (after a hike)... the water temperature is refreshingly cold!

Spisska Nova Ves a middle size town with historic center and largest oval-type square in Europe. Catholic church's tower in SNV is tallest one in middle Europe. Moreover SNV is the center of historic Spis (Sepesi, Zipser) region with museums. Near to SNV there is historic town of Levoca (10km distance) with extraordinary St. James Basilica equipped with wooden altar of high historic value. SNV is also the gate to the Slovak Paradise National Park which offers great opportunities for hikes in wonderful nature of hills and Hornad river's canyons.
