Everything was perfect from beginning to the end. The staff was really friendly and helped us to book a private car service before our arrival. The car driver was kind and always wore a big smile despite of the language barrier. The room was clean and lovely with pretty much everything we needed. The restaurant and the massage service were worthy of a try as well.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were both incredibly friendly and attentive. Our bags were taken to our room and we were given an overview of the facilities and food options. There is free tea, coffee, water and some snacks at the reception kitchen, which is a really nice touch. The room itself… wow. We stayed in one of the lake view cottages and it was an absolute slice of heaven. In the middle of a jam packed busy travel schedule, this was exactly what we needed. The pool area is small but clean and idyllic. We enjoyed catching some rays in the late afternoon and then in the morning before checking out. Only two sunbed, but most of the hotel rooms have private pools so we didn’t find this affected us. The location is prime for the White Temple in particular. They offer free bikes which we used to cycle over for the final hour of opening, which was the perfect time for a quiet visit. We were tempted by the morning but we were too relaxed to get up and leave in the end. I anticipate the morning is even more of a quiet time to visit the temple though. You MUST get the Pad Thai. It was exceptional and different from any others we’ve tried. Definitely had their own twist on the dish which we loved. If you’re looking for a completely unique stay, outside of the tourist areas for one or a few nights, I couldn’t recommend this place enough. A final shoutout to the staff who immediately did a ‘nervous’ of our room after checking out, and returned my partner’s shorts which he’d left. Those are the touches that make all the difference to a stay. Thank you Doowall Hall!

A Wonderful Stay at Sookmirund - Chiang Rai We stayed in a Magnificent Superior Suite, and everything exceeded our expectations. The bed was huge with perfect bedding, and the spacious bathroom added to the comfort of our stay. We were warmly welcomed at the airport by one of the hotel’s receptionists, and the transfer to the hotel was smooth and very comfortable. The staff were incredibly attentive, always ready to assist and provide valuable tips for exploring the area. The location is fantastic, making it easy to discover Chiang Rai. The hotel’s interior patio is stunning, offering a serene atmosphere, and the breakfast was varied, plentiful, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Chiang Rai!

The owner is super helpful,he gave us a full guide of activities to make around the city ,even though we only stayed two days,there is so much to see around.Also,the guide was in our language so my mom could understand without the help of a translator,that's super sweet. Even though the place is old school style,it has everything needed. The owner also helped us to book a tour around the temples which was super complete. I would definitely recommend it.

This small hotel feels like home in a big, beautiful garden. The room was very spacious, with a big covered terrace with magnificent views. The bathroom was very clean. We enjoyed the infinity pool at the sunset. There are many cozy corners where you can rest, read, have a drink… all is very beautifully designed and stylish. We also enjoyed the dinners at a pond or on a portico. The hotel organised great trips for us with a driver. The coffee plantations and coffee villages. The spa massages were very healing…. Location is in the middle of town about 350 m from clock tower and 550 m from night bazaar. It is also near MM morning fresh veggie/ food market. Taking Grab everywhere is inexpensive. Do not take taxi from in front of hotel, taxis there overcharge!!! Hotel breakfast was excellent with lots of choice, especially coffee from machine. There is also a clean swimming pool . My birthday was during this trip and they helped my partner surprise me with a cake and flowers for only 500 baht which made it really special. The pool was lovely, we went in everyday. Far better than chiang mai.

Far better than chiang mai. Cheap a few good bars and restaurants on and around walking street. The temples are the best we have ever seen. Very friendly and safe place. Thailand 25 years ago. No hassle and great people. Oh and very cheap.

Mae Salong is a beautiful haven for a getaway. Firstly, there are a few tea farms on the mountains. The scent of flowers wafts through the air almost wherever you go. Nothing is like the beauty of sun rise and sun set here. Last but not least, food is good.

It was a great stay for just two days (we arrived in the afternoon of a Friday and left on Saturday evening). It was long enough to see the Blue temple, the big Buddha, the white temple and the black house. We would recommend not to walk much, just use Grab for transportation between the temples.

I ❤️ Mae Salong. The clean crisp air and many local ethnic groups make this a great place to visit Love staying at Shin Sane GH or Little House GH. Each still offer great prices for cottages and Shin Sane still has the original rooms from wooden house and at a shoestring price for this region Love eating at Yunnan noodles down the road a bit past 7 Eleven and Salima’s. There’s a pure veg place heading towards the cathothic school nearby.

Acceptable for one night. You need a car to get to the hotel. The rooms are not soundproof. Quite loud from the traffic. The hotel is located directly on the main street. The breakfast is not bad and with good coffee to make yourself with a coffee machine.

A great location to see the amazing White Temple, Blue...

A great location to see the amazing White Temple, Blue Temple and Red Temple with the Big Buddha. Various other great day trips also easily done from Chiang Rai. Stay a few nights to get the best from Chiang Rai.

Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river.

Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river. Views are amazing and the food is good. It is not very big so staying for an extended time may be dull for some. Great for relaxing and quiet. Excellent for walking and/or riding bicycles.
