The place is spectacularly located and the journey there is adventurous, but feasible to get to it with a regular car. This fenced-in and very safe backpackers stay is surrounded by pure nature and has sweeping views of the sea. A place made for tranquility and a good rest. Many hiking options and an authentic feeling of rural Africa. Zikhona ist ann energetic and knowledgable host. The welcome was warm and very friendly. They waited for us despite our late arrival and introduced us to the many facilities. We even decorated a Christmas tree together with the host. Our rooms were mistakenly given out to other guest and we were placed in a dormitory like big huts with a shared room with separate beds. Unfortunately, the group of guests who were given our rooms arrived with the intention of partying all night long. Therefore we were exposed to loud music and lively activity all night long. Second night was heavenly quiet and filled with only the sound of nature. The shared facilities like the 3 bathrooms, huge kitchens, and recreational spaces are very well equipped, have breathtaking viewsa and are spotlessly clean. Because of the amazing location, tranquality and wonderful beaches, stay minimum 2 nights.
Boasting sea views, Amapondo offers accommodation with patio, around 1.3 km from Second Beach. This beachfront property offers access to a terrace and free private parking.

A true hidden gem in Port St. Johns. The views from the room are incredible — waking up to them was a highlight of our stay. Mark, the host, was extremely friendly and made us feel at home immediately.
Don’t miss the chance to walk down to Amapondo (about 10 minutes) for a beer and great vibes. We also loved the seafood — including an amazing paella. Such a special place!

What a spectacular view and setting ❤️. Shared kitchen with potential other guests which worked for our stay. Rustic but very comfortable and clean. Nice vibe. A great choice when staying in PSJ.

The view is amazing and the room very very nice. The front to the see is a window which you can completely open. So you have a open cottage with the best view one can have :-)

This small town is a must visit.
This small town is a must visit. If you are looking for untouched and raw nature, please book a stay here. We came back rejuvenated. The people are so kind. Our highlight was driving to theQhekwana village to get fresh seafood and African dishes from Ncumisa's place

The municipality must put signs 🛑 of NO parking, especially near the night clubs. We are tired of police and traffic officials who are towing our cars telling us that we are parking on wrong places while there's no traffic signs.

Port St John’s lies in a beautiful area with nice beaches and various hikes. The town itself is fairly grubby as a commercial centre for the area but things improve out of town. Reasonable choice of restaurants and shops in the area.
Amapondo is far enough out to miss the grubbiness. Enjoyed Second beach and the Gap trail.
