Great location, free food and drinks nonstop, friendly staff, and overall good service

Amazing breakfast, the best location near the station, and numerous shopping areas. Large room with nice view.

The spacious room has a great view of the sea, the bridges and the buildings on the opposite coastline. One can even see the drawbridge being opened and closed from the room window. It was a luxury to be able to sit in the room and enjoy the outside view any time of the day. Was even able to see the sunset. Breakfast was generous in terms of choices and quality. If seated near the windows, one can even see the morning sky and the sea view while eating breakfast.

The room was surprisingly spacious. The room even had a little booth seating area with dining table. The beds and pillow were both comfortable. I appreciated the large selection of goodies for the bathroom and the pyjamas came in handy (because I left mine at the previous hotel). The breakfast had a mixture of Japanese and western options. The free drinks served at night were a lovely touch. I felt like the hotel was value for money considering all the little extras that came with it. Finally, the location was excellent, right in the midst of the undercover shopping arcade, and close to the train station and the castle.

The hotel is in a perfect location -- right next to the Karato Fish market, the Karato ferry pier, an aquarium, an amusement park for kids, and at a bus stop from which you can access farther parts of the city. We had a view of the Setouchi, the pier, the aquarium and karato market and could hear the seals and dolphins at the aquarium and the waves lapping along the pier. There were plenty of restaurants and a Family Mart close by. There is also a fantastic bakery next door and you can have high tea at the former British Consulate across the street. The breakfast at the Grand was very good although it's the same offering every day. The Akama and Hachimen Shrines are close by and the Dan-no-ura battle cannons are within walking distance. We had western beds and two western sitting chairs with a small table next to the sliding glass doors which led to a balcony from which could watch the activity on the pier below and the ships going by. At night, the harbor and lighthouse are lit up. The soaking tub came with yuzu bath salts (called bath powder). We had a very restful stay here. The personnel were friendly and helpful. We felt well-taken care of.
