Det nyrenoverede 4-stjernede Hotel Baia Azul ligger ideelt, 4 minutters gang fra stranden i Funchal. It was very neat, the buffet, the restaurant, the pool, everything was great excellent ! We were not that far from Funchal and you can access the Ocean by foot from the hotel.

Walking into this place honestly felt like entering another world, every step there was something new to look at in total awe. The garden walkways, the animals, the pool, the ocean view, the hobbit bar!! The attention to detail feels like that of a $1000 per night stay and is exactly the kind of tranquility I was hoping to find on Madeira. Thankyou so much for having us if we ever make it back to Madeira we will be back!

Castanheiro Boutique Hotel ligger i Funchal. Marina do Funchal ligger 500 m fra hotellet, hvor der findes en spa, spabad samt en udendørs swimmingpool, der er åben året rundt. The staff was Excellent. They went out of their way to help to recommend outstanding restaurants, activities and the happy hour was fantastic to meet other travelers. The location is excellent.

Quinta das Malvas - Quinta de Santa Luzia ligger i Funchal og har gratis wi-fi overalt. Der tilbydes gratis privat parkering på selve ejendommen. An old, very original house, owned by a branch of the Blandy family (I am told the last of the family run wineries on the island), is full of old world colonial charm. Set high on the hill overlooking Funchal this is a real gem and a welcome change to the bland more expensive hotels in the heart of the city. An easy taxi or bus ride from the centre it has parking, great views and delightful grounds. Run by the ever helpful Margarida if you can put up with its few idiosyncrasies I can’t recommend it highly enough. A breath of fresh air.
