This was a very nice change from the urban hotels during our travels around Japan. The proprietress is very charming and the breakfast prepared for us was very intricate with many Japanese foods. Sleeping and bathing traditional Japanese style is also something worth experiencing. To get there from Nara, take the train from Kintetsu Nara to Ikoma station where you can take the tramway up. You can just as quickly reach Ikoma station from Osaka. We visited in September and the last tram up was at 11pm. There was a restaurant open near the ryokan until 10pm (Indonesian). And if you are able to do some stairs, I highly recommend a visit in the morning to the temple complex above the ryokan. Keep following the steps above the first temples and you will find yourself on a truly magical path.

Great place to enjoy kaiseki and onsens. We got the room with an in-room onsen too, which was great. Late at night we decided that we wanted to add a futon (instead of sleeping with the Western style beds) and they helped us with no problem.

Super big rooms (all the premises, actually) with one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in Japan, everything is spotlessly clean, the public bath is beautiful, the staff lovely, and there's a free shuttle bus to both JR and Kintetsu Nara stations. And all of this princess treatment for an unbelievably low price.

The staff was amazing. Very friendly, helpfull, just great. The breakfast was very nice with the choice of Japanese or Western. Both changed every day so very nice to try the Japanese version. The room was very Japanese and a nice change from western style. Slept on the floor but suprizingly comfy. Onsen very nice and warm.

The greeting we got on arrival was nothing but friendly. The lady who runs it doesn’t speak English, but understands little bits (we used Google translate for longer sentences). She’s such a lovely lady and very welcoming, showed us around the Ryokan and the facilities. The shower room is amazing with its hot bath! We loved staying in a traditional Japanese room with tatami flooring and the comfy futon beds, and the views from our window of the city was gorgeous! Definitely want to make a return visit and stay for longer :)

The accommodation was only a few steps away from the cable car station, making it accessible. Not only is the outside reminiscent of the traditional ryokan imagery but the inside is also beautifully decorated and maintained by the host. Flowers are freshly placed, baths are timed for guests' use, and the host is always there to make sure your stay is as welcome as possible.

Beautiful place line from a Ghibli movie. Lovely owners and 2 funny dogs. My son was happy to play with them. If you come by car pls park on the big free parking Before entering Ikoma village. Then walk 3 min ( by stairs) to the Ryokan.

The host was an extremely nice and lovely lady. The stay offered many possibilities to experience authentic japanese ryokan (outfits, bath, room, breakfast etc.) The bath was free and the view was amazing. You could reach the location relatively easily. The futon and air conditioning ensured that we were not cold even though it was late February. If in need of more options with shops or restaurants, the cable car nearby could take you easily and cheaply down to Ikoma town.

Charming little Ryokan not far from the historical Capital Nara that you can access by driving a cat or a dog train up the hill, where an amazing Buddhist temple is close by. The view from the breakfast room in the direction of Nara is breathtaking. The friendly host has a lot of interesting information regarding traditional customs, like the tea ceremony or the Kimono.

The old style-ryokan room was just amazing. The staff were really nice and made me feel at home from the very first moment I arrived. Also the chance to wear a yukata was a refreshing experience!

This was off season quiet hideaway fro. the busy cities. The area was almost deserted, but seeking lonely serenity, this ryokan was perfect. No frills. A good place to gather thoughts - relaxing hot bath with a view from the mountain side and tea seremony next door at night. Top of hill has surprice views of Osaka and getting there by hillside tram are a bonus. The proprietor is nice and knows bit English.
