Location on the fringe of Karatsu is ideal, with easy parking. Our room in East Wing faced the beach and had a superb view on the bay. The outdoor swimming pool is beautiful, large enough for a little swim, with views right on the seaside and the celebrated local pine grove. You can easily go from beach to swimming pool. We were well received and kindly upgraded to a huge, luxurious room; every comfort you can think of was there. The circulation from bedroom to onsen to swimming pool can be complex, but we were given an English language map that greatly helped. This was our second stay in Karatsu, and we'd love to come back and stay in Karatsu Seaside Hotel another time !

Yoyokaku is a sublime inn and garden. Everything was perfect. The bath/pottery/evening meal/breakfast/staff, it was an utter idyll at the end of a fairly busy few weeks travelling through Japan. The first day we did very little but chill out in the grounds and room and could have done this for about a week I think!

Set 200 metres from Nishinohama Beach, Mizuno Ryokan offers 3-star accommodation in Karatsu and has a garden. The property is around 47 km from Fukuoka Yahuoku!

The kaiseki dinner is very nice. Breakfast spread was good and varied. The onsen facilities in ryokan is very good, especially the open air bath area. The sand bath option is unusual, and the foot bath avail is nice too. Even as the staff mostly cannot speak english well, they were very helpful and assisted to their best efforts. The shop in lobby level is interesting with things to purchase.

Everything was perfect. The breakfast was delicious, the rooms were spacious and comfortable (with a great view!), location was fantastic too. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, especially Takeo-san. Thank you for making our first visit to Karatsu so memorable and showing us japanese hospitality!
