A friend and I stayed there during one week-end. It was a very good experience. The room is quite large and very clean. The highlight of this stay was for sure the dinner. The food was delicious, made with high quality products and with a large selection of different dishes. The owners were very nice with us. If you want to have an experience in a traditionnal family owned ryokan, I highly recommend to stay there :) It is exactly the kind of place that I hope will still exist in some years!

We had an excellent stay, food and presentations were exquisite. We admired the thought that went into presenting food in dishes that are compatible with the “mood” of the food. Only 5 minutes walk to the lift. Staff were professional, rooms were comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed our stay.

Renovated in 2017, Meitoya Sou offers a modern-style ryokan with natural hot spring baths. Free WiFi is offered and free private parking is available on site.

The service was excellent, dinner and bfast served was delicious. I just amazed with their warm hospitality especially when we encountered the problems to get to the ropeway of Zao Onsen Ropeway station, the front desk without hesitate and drove 4 of us to the bus terminal for luggage kept at the locker and then further dropped us at the zao ropeway cable car. It was really unexpected and they extend their great hospitality to fetch us around especially that day it was snow heavily. We were much appreciated and enjoyed the stay in the Ryokan. Thanks to the drivers and front desk staffs, it was so touch and definitely a memorable stay and will definitely come back again!

Nice traditional Japanese ryokan. Spacious room, nice and helpful staff, mountain view, and great location in Zao onsen. The downside is the hotel is so great we don’t want to go out and explore the town.

Our stay was exceptional! Everything was spotless and perfectly maintained, with great attention to detail. The room was beautiful and had every comfort we could need. Winter closure of the open-air baths "Shirakaba-no-yu" (Late December - 28 February) Due to the accumulation of snow, the open-air bath will be closed during the winter.

The staff members are all kind and provided me free shuttle services to cable cars. Though the facilities are not brand new but it is reminiscent of my childhood as most items in the hotel are the same ones we used in my old family house. Besides, they are all well kept. Obviously it is clean and bright.
