Self Catering Accommodation in Egilsstadir

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay in the Hengifoss lodge. It's a dream to stay here. Once entered you're greeted by the warm smell of ember caused by the wood that was used to make this house. The colours and the layout of the room is incredibly cosy. The fireplace keeps the house (almost too) warm, and the window + terrace give an exceptional view over the lake and mountains. The hosts are also amazing and gave us the feeling that we're not only welcome, but also that they really understand why we chose to go to Iceland. We asked for help with our fireplace and the host, Isabelle, came to the rescue. She tried to help us to lit a fire but to no avail. We did however have a really good conversation. However when she left, we were content enough. Yet still she knocked on the door and winked us to come over. She told us enthusiastically that the Northern Lights were dancing and fully visible, we had to come outside! The next morning it was kind of raining, a little bit. But the sun was also shining through the clouds. The husband, Steff, called me when I was standing on the terrace. He said: "There is a rainbow there!" and pointed towards slightly behind the house I was standing in front of. I walked to the side and indeed saw a beautiful rainbow. This might not say much to other people wanting to stay there. But to me it feels like these people have such a connection with Iceland, its beauty and understand that we are there for the same connection, they told us to look at beautiful views which Iceland offers, and we were delighted to follow their guidance. Thank you Isabelle and Steff, for the warm welcome. Whenever we're in Iceland and planning to go near Eggs, we will definitely make use of your beautiful little houses.

This property was in a remote location but very near the Hengifoss waterfall which was our next stop. Beautiful valley views. Cozy small and comfortable apartment.

Spacious and comfortable. Good for 6 people.

It is difficult to find the location of the apartment, fortunately, I met the son of the apartment landlord and he showed me the way.

Nice cottage in a great location. We arrived late in the evening and it was warm inside and the lights were on so it was very easy to find. That was a great welcome and we enjoyed our stay very much, we had everything we needed.

The cabin, located next to a stream, had such a cute flair and was very cosy. We had a very restful night due to the comfortable bed. All the necessities (fridge, coffee, kettle, microwave, hair dryer) were available and we really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was nice and warm when we arrived, which we very much appreciated due to the windy and snowy weather. We thought about staying a second night but unfortunately to our tight schedule we had to proceed our journey. We would highly recommend this place when you are looking for a very private secluded and quiet place to stay. What a great cabin experience.
