This old multigenerational property has been very well looked after. It respects its past but has all the luxuries of the present. We especially loved the kotatsu. The attention to detail was phenomenal and our host was very lovely and kind. We wished we stayed longer

The place is incredible! How is it not booked month in advance? Located near a beautiful lake halfway between Nagoya and Takayama amidst mountains, the cabin is really big an spacious and has tons of facilities. Family room with fireplace and huge tv with consul, card games, a lot of sitting places. There is also a well equipped kitchen a bbq, really cool tab and a lot of amenities, balcony with beautiful starry night sky.

Hanamidori is in beautiful, quiet place at the end of a village, next to a river. Unfortunately, it was raining for us, but even then, the nature around was beautiful. The place itself was plenty big for two of us, and had everything we needed inside - the paid "minibar" with drinks and snacks was a nice touch, too!

We wanted to experience a traditional Japanese property in a rural area which is exactly what we got. The place was huge - you get the whole proprty to yourself The hosts Nikki and Diaki (who live in the house next door) were fantastic and communication in English was not problem. On one of the nights they took us to the local craft beer bar - Noh Land Brewery - the beer was excellent. There weren't any restaurants nearby but there is a small shop next door which was excellently stocked with all sorts of fresh fish and meat. The kitchen had everything needed to cook a meal. You ideally need a car as it is a little remote but it was the perfect base for exploring the Southern Japenese Alps area and the Magome-Tsumago trail. We stayed in Nov and it was besutiful and it must be a great place in the summer as it has a lovely terranced area and a small stream in the garden. We had a wonderful experience and the perfect break whilst travelling between Tokyo and Kyoto.

We loved the location, the nature is so beautiful. The houses are neat and cosy. The staff extremely helpful and at your service.

Farm type homestead easily accessible by bus from Gujo. It was far and away the cheapest, best value option and also close to a few restaurants and eateries in the village. The owner runs a little bakery and cafe on site and was friendly. I am a Japanese speaker so maybe that helped but i would recommend for a place in the country if you want to see rural Japan. Facilities again not the Ritz but comfortable enough and host made you welcome in the shared lounge.
