Tongariro Crossing Lodge ligger i rolige omgivelser med en stor anlagt have og en malerisk haveterrasse med udsigt over bjergene. Der tilbydes unikt rummelige værelser med historisk karakter. Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

Findlay Chalet - National Park Holiday Home er et overnatningssted med en have og ligger i National Park, 15 km fra Mount Ruapehu, 16 km fra Taranaki Falls og 22 km fra Whakapapa. Great location, so cosy and such a gorgeous home. Had everything we needed and plenty of room for all. Would highly recommend to anyone going to Tongariro! 10/10

Ruapehu Retreat - Waimarino ligger ca. 15 km fra Mount Ruapehu. Her er gårdhave, kedel og udsigt til en have. Excellent and spacious-all new

National Park Home ligger i National Park, 16 km fra Taranaki Falls og 22 km fra Whakapapa. Her er gratis wi-fi og et fladskærms-tv. Fantastic location near to the four squares, and the equipment rental shop (Ski Biz I believe). The apartment was so cosy and well ventilated with large windows! The dry pantry was well equipped with herbs and condiments.

Situated in the heart of Tongariro National Park, Skotel Alpine Resort offers a restaurant, a hot tub and a terrace bar with a fireplace. Most accommodations boast stunning mountain or region views. The location was great to set off on hikes immediately from the property.

Plateau Lodge is located 15 minutes’ drive from UNESCO World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park, where guests can enjoy skiing, hiking, cycling and paddling activities. We stayed in a King Pod and it was terrific! Private, very comfortable bed, hot shower and an amazing soaking tub. Loved our stay there and wish we had stayed the night after we hiked the Crossing too!

Located in the Tongariro National Park, The Park Hotel Ruapehu offers affordable accommodation in a stunning alpine setting. Guests are provided with free parking and 500MB of free WiFi. Perfect for my family of three traveling through NZ. The staff are friendly and helpful. The resturant is quite good too.

The Crossing Lodge & Backpackers ligger i National Park, 21 km fra Mount Ruapehu, og har et fælles opholdsområde, en terrasse og gratis privat parkering. This is my 2nd stint here. The 1st stint I had an easier time checking in. However, once I checked in, it was just like the previous stay. It is a minimalist lodging, which is what I like. There is a community kitchen and cooking area, which is an excellent way to meet new people. I will stay here every time when I am in the Tongariro area.
