Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails ligger i nationalparken Arenal blot 2,7 km fra Arenal-vulkanen. Location is actually in the protected natural reserve. 350 hectare park contains well designed flower park full of colibris, primary forest, water fall. We stayed in a separate building, with direct view to Arenal and the forest: at the morning, one could watch all the birds: tucans, colibris etc. You have to walk through a hanging bridge to ghe restaurant, which has a marvelous view. The hotel organises free walks on the marked forest tracks, one can see buttetfliea, frogs, birds, spider monkeys. There is a 20 m metal tower that rises above the trees. When we were in the tower, a group of monkeys passed below us. Swiming pool and jacuzzi is right in the forest. Restaurant is fine. Upon arrival, towels were organized into a snail shape 😁

Set in lush tropical gardens, at the foot of Costa Rica’s Arenal the Volcano Lodge, Hotel & Thermal Experience offers an outdoor pool and free Wi-Fi zone. Air-conditioned rooms have a terrace. This hotel sits on a large property, we stayed in a room with a small thermal pool in a garden visited by plenty of birds. The location is very quiet, the room is large, the personnel helps a lot on any issue. We were able to do a small laundry, still very expensive but also very helpful. From all the places we've been in Costa Rica this hotel had the best breakfast, with very good quality products. One can see also plenty of birds around the breakfast zone, the pool and the gardens. The hotel has a very nice thermal pool with multiple small pools accessible over night. It also has a normal pool. We really enjoyed it.

La Anita Rain Forest ligger i Colonia Dos Ríos, 20 km fra Miravalles Volcano, og har en have, en terrasse og en restaurant samt gratis privat parkering. All of the meals were great... it did not hurt that the coffee served was excellent either

Finca Luna Nueva Lodge ligger i Fortuna i Alajuela-regionen, 26 km fra Monteverde. Der tilbydes udendørs pool og spa-center. Feriegården har en udendørs pool, der er åben året rundt, og solterrasse. Finca Luna is the perfect balance between environmentally friendly establishment and luxury and comfort. The nature (vegetation and animals from iguanas to sloths)around the hotel compound is amazing and gives lots of options to explore. The staff is wonderful and ready to help and support all your needs, including tours in the area. Our favorite was childrens eternal rainforest hike. The restaurant serves mostly food prepared with homegrown vegetables and fruits through regenerative farming. The accommodation we had was Casa Deluxe and it had everything you need. Swimmingpool is always accesible to relax, and it is cleaned with ozon, so no chlorine, which is fantastic. For practical matters, the internet through wifi worked fantastic (happy kids), and the cost of food was ok, but if you want to explore other restaurant options in the area, you need a car. Overall, Finca was the best place we have ever stayed. Hope to be back someday.

Wonderful hosts, beautiful home and gardens. The space they have created for guests to enjoy the tasty breakfast provided includes magnificent views! Regardless of whether you are looking up into the secondary forest hills (planted by our hosts) to create safe passage for some of the creatures we share our planet with, or watching some of these amazing creatures engage with the ponds full of tilapia OR if you are marveling at the craftsmanship and palpable reverence of the tree(s) evidenced in the many wonderful stairs, benches, bannisters, light fixtures, ceilings...WOW and that is all without getting the the Chocolate! The data rich documentation of each batch may contribute to it being some of the best chocolate you may ever have, all delivered on a beautiful wooden pedestal or wrapped in a paper cone - it is a Belgium/Costa Rica fusion. The Tree Chocolate farm tour (recommended by our host) was the highlight of our entire trip. It was incredibly rejuvenating to spend time surrounded by so many humans who demonstrate a responsible, thoughtful, regenerative way of co-existing with our natural world. At the Tree Chocolate farm, our tour guide (trained by the farmer, his mentor) provided a fantastically fun and informative tour through a 45 year old permaculture farm where we drank and ate chocolate and coconuts and enjoyed the tire swing in the pouring rain. I wish I had bought so many more bags of the Tree Chocolate's dark roast coffee, it transcends coffee and reaches the chocolate realm with a super smooth aftertaste of deep dark chocolate - OMG
