Exceptional food, beautiful surroundings and everyone was incredibly welcoming and kind. The onsen was also lovely.

Soy was a beautiful experience! The Kogawa family was so friendly--for example, Kei drove us to our destinations and came to pick us up as well. He even brought our luggage to the station for us after we did some last-minute sightseeing, hours after we checked out. The breakfasts were delicious (we had a choice between Western and Japanese, both fantastic), and the rooms were full of comfort and charm. The Kura Room we stayed in had a beautiful wooden bathtub that was a wonderful hot soak, as well as a whole entertainment room on the second floor. I highly recommend it. And of course I have to mention Tara, the adorable and sweet Soy cat! Hanging out in front of the warm stove and drinking tea after a day of sightseeing while admiring Tara will always be a happy memory for me.

Auberge Hidanomori blev genåbnet efter renovering i 2022. Det ligger i rolige bakker, 10 minutters kørsel fra JR Takayama Station. We loved our time at Auberge Hidanomori. The decor is beautiful and in a lovely location in the outskirts of Takayama. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who gave us recommendations for some local walks and provided a free shuttle to/from town. We would definitely recommend booking in for dinner - the food was incredible and the best that we had during our trip to Japan. We hope that we will be back again some day - thank you!

Ryokan Kaminaka har en praktisk beliggenhed blot 3 minutters gang fra JR Takayama Station og er registreret som en vigtig kulturel attraktion. The owner of the place was so kind to us and made us feel very welcomed. The location is pretty good and the onsen was very nice and we were able to use it privately. The breakfast was very good! Really enjoyed this place

Great traditional Ryokan, in a perfect location for the Magome to Tsumago walk. Our room had it's own toilet and little sink which was very handy. I liked that you booked a time for the onsen when you checked in as it was small and wouldn't fit a second person comfortably. There was a pot of hot water in our room when we checked in to make tea and pots available by reception with ice cold water. We found the futons to be very comfortable and much thicker than other Ryokan we have stayed at. Staff were friendly, and spoke some English. Dinner is served at 6pm and was delicious with a range of small dishes, plenty of food. Breakfast was at 7.30am also a range of small dishes, I felt bad as I couldn't eat that much food so early in the morning. Walls are thin, so you can hear other guests but eveyone was very courteous so not really an issue. The charm of a character building.
