Hotel Lunata features 10 guest rooms decorated in traditional Mexican style. Each guest room offers cable TV, air conditioning and a refrigerator. Rooms also offer a balcony with a view of the ocean, garden or Fifth Avenue. This was my 4th visit to Hotel Lunata in Playa del Carmen since 2002. On the surface, very little has changed over the years. In this case, that is a very good thing! Of course there has been some modernization in that time, such as very good WiFi for each room, however the warm and inviting room design, the friendly staff and the overall impression the hotel leaves have all not changed. We again had a very pleasant visit and were sad to leave. The breakfast is very basic with some cereals, tea, coffee and toast. It’s enough to get you going into the day, but it’s not a feast and is not the main focus of this boutique hotel. It is self-service in the Lunata natural garden, just like it was in 2002. We brought some fruits from the market and the staff offered to peel and cut the fruit for us. Fantastic service.

The property is close to several noted attractions, around less than 1 km from Kool Beach Club and around a 2-minute walk from Quinta Alegria Shopping Mall. The property is on downtown. Isaac at the reception did a good, thorough and professional job explaining about the hotel, perks of an IHG member and finding my reservation. The room is big with a helpful balcony. I was given a quiet area as requested when booking. Roomkeeping and cleanliness were very clean and the huge bed, very comfortable and exceptional. The shower was hot enough with ok pressure. I am very happy with the very central location especially during Carnival and would not hesitate to recommend to others and stay here again.
