We used this place as a stop off between Cahuita and San Jose. It sleeps 7 and offered tv and Wifi so met our needs. It’s not a pretty place inside, but it had a lovely dining table outside amongst nature, and enough kitchen stuff to make a meal. It was good value for the price we paid, but also ‘you get what you pay for’ holds true.

Casa Chicua is an adorable little cottage, rustic but comfortable, and Juan (the host) couldn’t have been any friendlier or more accomodating. It’s super close to the Volcán Irazu so perfect for an early morning visit there. The views from the cottage are also amazing, we awoke early to find ourselves above the clouds. Enchanting!

The location was perfect for Lankester Botanical Garden and was an oasis in the middle of the city. The property was very clean and well appointed. The night traffic was light and allowed a great rest.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Warmly greeted by Juan, he spoke a little English and I speak a little Spanish so we managed to understand each other. He even took us to his own home nearby and introduced us to his wife and explained a few things about the area.It’s a beautiful location with stunning views. The cabin is just as the photos show, beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. A small but perfectly functional kitchen, had everything we needed. Nice toiletries in the bathroom, a comfortable bed. In addition, there’s outside space and parking. The nearby town of Orosi has plenty of shops and restaurants. You can drive there or use the footbridge across the river.
