One of the most stunning places I've ever visited.
One of the most stunning places I've ever visited. Relatively unspoilt as it's difficult to reach and very expensive. Felt like an exclusive holiday location. Colourful buildings springing out of the hills, beautiful climate and STUNNING flora and fauna. All in all, one feels like one has been dropped into paradise on earth. Visiting in April is to be recommended as it feels neither too hot nor too crowded. I can't sing its praises enough. Travelling can be tricky if you have older people in your party - almost every route around the town involves steep steps. Spoilt for choice in terms of eating - we didn't have a bad meal. Shout out to Il Capitano (higher end) and Il Fornillo (slightly more reasonably priced). Recommend day trips to Pompeii and Vesuvius, the Amalfi coast (from Positano to Maiori), boat trip to Capri and Anacapri, and Sorrento.

Positano is absolutely amazing, but be ready to walk a lot...
Positano is absolutely amazing, but be ready to walk a lot of stairs, on very very steep trails. Respectfully, this place is not ideal for unfit people. Depending if you’re staying close the beach or on the upper side of the city, you will either have to take the stairs with your luggage or get a taxi, which is not cheap there.
There are a lot of good restaurants to choose from, and also very affordable, even though the city is rated to be quite expensive.
The beach is relatively small, so don’t expect to find a spot to lay down on the sand if you’re travelling during the summer season. As we visited in march, the weather was 10-18 degrees Celsius, which was prefect, also we avoided the crowds and the Mediterranean summer heat of June-August.

Is picturesque.
Is picturesque. Very hilly so if you have mobility problems would be best avoided. It is expensive even for little things like snacks I found it financially beneficial to have a proper meal. Other than that an enjoyable place to visit.

The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful destination to visit in...
The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful destination to visit in Italy. Originally, when booking this location, I thought the area was sold out-it was hard to find accommodations. But once we arrived we learned that the entire Amalfi Coast pretty much goes silent from November to late March. The area has limited restaurants open as well as hotels. So we were lucky we found a home in which to stay. Use the bus SITA to buy a trip to Amalfi to spend 4-5 hours. Well worth the 3euro cost. Other locations available too on this bus line. Sorrento can be visited as well using the public transportation. The winding roads leading from Sorrento to Positano and then to Amalfi will leave you spell bound. Sharp drops, scenic ocean views and the lovely speckle of homes up and down these cliffs is just breath taking. Highly recommend a visit to the area.

Everything was closed during Dec, no where to eat and only...
Everything was closed during Dec, no where to eat and only few shops were open, spent 3 nights and it was too long with no where to eat and not much to do, walked daily for spectacular views!
Lots of stairs to climb and I would definitely avoid coming December-March.
I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Albergo California. Centrally located in Positano, family owned with the best views in the area. We stayed for a week and it was the highlight of our trip to Italy. The breakfast was incredible, we also enjoyed several dinners at the Don Giovanni restaurant during our stay. Our room was comfortable and the views from our balcony were epic. Fun fact: this hotel was used as a filming location for scenes from the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun”. We will be back. Thank you Cinque family!!!
Location is 5 star. Upper floor rooms all have balconies. Well sized for europe, good AC, ocean views. Ground floor has check in, and then a small area for breakfast, cappuccinos, etc. all of which are comparatively affordable. No roof top bar, or pool. But solid 3 star hotel, with 5 star staff and 5 star location. In general in positano, parking garages are a distance from your hotel, hire porter's to carry your bags (10E/bag). Everything is stairs or hills. So be prepared. Hotel helped arrange everything.
The Hotel is right above Fornillo beach, which is a short, lovely walk from the main part of Positano. This means you get to escape the crowds of Positano - which are ridiculous during the day with all the boat tours. Each apartment has a lovely terrace so you can sit and enjoy the 180 view of the beach. It is best reached by Ferry as the nearest public car parking is a good 10 min walk down (and up) steep stairs. If you come by car, then only take with you a small bag of necessaries!
Everything about this place was incredible! My husband and I honeymooned in Italy and Positano was our first destination. This hotel made our first stop absolutely perfect. Everything from location to the staff…especially the staff! They made sure that we had a memorable time. Truly can’t say enough about how amazing this hotel is!
PS they have the BEST pizza that we tried in Positano!
so definitely eat lunch there during your stay and Da Adolfo next door!
We stayed here for our honeymoon for 4 nights, and it is absolutely stunning! The complimentary breakfast was incredible every morning while overlooking all the colors and energy of Positano. The terrace was our favorite spot with the ocean and cliff views - and live music on Mon/Wed/Fri from 7:30pm until Midnight. Hotel Poseidon is in a great central location (walking distance to everything in Positano) and close to a shortcut of steps to the beaches below.
Out of this world amazing, probably our best stay in Italy. Wonderful unit and insane views, Ambra was very helpful and nice. We Didn't want to leave. Parked car downstairs in private garage, very convenient. Positano our new favorite place. Be warned w/ the elevation down to seashore, we took cab back for 30 euros, dont think we could have walked back up after exhausting day. Pricey but absolutely worth it and in line w/ other offerings anyways.
Cada Pietro is a place to be in Positano, it’s really well located just beside the main road( which is the best way to get to town and avoid the hundred and hundred steps ) nice restaurants close by ( at main road). The place was so clean, spotlessly. The owners are so welcoming and helpful and the bed and shower was the best I got during my trip to the Almafi Coast/ Capri. Great value for money! Literally a 5 star guest house !
The breakfasts were superb. Warm Croissants. Fresh local fruit. Cappuccino. Expresso. Yogurt. And a large choice of other options. Delivered to our room at our choice of time and eaten on an outdoor terrazzo overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and an incredible view of Positano. Outstanding customer service including arranging for a massage in our room and for our luggage to get to the ferry. 5 Stars!
the setting is breath-taking. the hotel is very traditional with lots of character, the staff are superb and always happy to help with anything. there are amazing views from anywhere, the restaurants for all of breakfast, lunch and dinner are some of the best in positano. highly recommend dinner at Zass! if you didn't want to leave the hotel, you would not have to and still have a great time.
Clean rooms and common area.
Very comfy bed, best in all our trip (we had 4 hotels/B&Bs).
Balcony with amazing view (both the town and the sea).
The amazing helpful friendly cheerful staff helped us a lot with reservations over the phone and gave good tips for traveling.
The best restaurant we had in positano, regarding value-for-money, was in front of the hotel: "Saraceno d'Oro".
The owners are AMAZING!!!! From the very beginning, Enza ensured our trip was fully planned and provided the best recommendations for the area. It was incredible. The hospitality they provided is better than any 5 star hotel we’ve been to. We had breakfast with Alberto a few mornings and his food and company is unmatched. It felt like a fairytale at Petrea Lifestyle Suites.
Best views in Positano! The hotel is located right next to the center, and the views are the best you can find in positano. Loved everything about this hotel and our room, and had a great breakfast on my balcony with the most wonderful view. The staff were amazing and super friendly - if you're looking for a great hotel in Positano, you won't go wrong with this one.
our room was heaven! beautiful large balcony overlooking the sea & village. Delicious breakfast served in the room. Luigi, the concierge, was so helpful, arranging drivers, dinner reservations, walking directions. Really better than the 5 Star hotels we’ve stayed in. This is a little gem. We spent a day just hanging out in our room and balcony. Love this place!
All the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. They did their best to make sure your requests were met and that your experience was an enjoyable one. There are 70+ steep steps into the Hotel but well worth the climb to enjoy the views. You can best enjoy the views over breakfast on the terrace overlooking Positano and the coast.
The view was breath taking! The breakfast area overlooks all of Positano- great for photos! There are also two other rooftop decks for beautiful sunset photos. The brunch was exceptional and the service was 5 star! We were very happy with our choice of hotel and it was our favorite of our whole trip.
The apartment was clean, breakfast was great, and near Fornillo Beach. Staff was amazing and sweet. The apartment has a washer and a porch. 2 routes to get to the hotel, one way requires more steps, but that’s normal in Positano.
Location of the hotel is the best, right next to the main beach Positano Spiaggia and the main street. View from the restaurant terrace was amazing and and breakfast was very good.
