Well located in the centre of Funchal, Barceló Funchal Oldtown provides air-conditioned rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi and a fitness centre. This is one of the best hotels that we've ever been to. The hotel staff was super friendly to us and other guests, the location is amazing (exactly in the old town next to cozy restaurants and the promenade), the room was spacious and stylish, the breakfast was excellent, and the pool and the bar at the rooftop were also really pleasant. I only have nice things to say about the Barcelo hotel! Tip: If you're looking for a quick yet inexpensive way to get from the airport to the hotel, consider a shuttle bus that's right next to the exit from the airport. As of Oct 2023, it's just 5 euro per person (or 8 euro for a return trip), and it'll take you to a bus stop (number 6) that's really close to the Barcelo hotel. Note that they only accept cash in the bus.

This restored Madeiran mansion is located 900 metres from Funchal's Old Town and has scenic views of the sea, the city and the mountains from its own botanical gardens and terraces. This is a beautiful place, combining the elegant restoration of an old villa with well designed new build (architect not known) set in the villa’s grounds, all developed possibly 10 - 15 years. The setting in the well maintained landscaped gardens and courtyard of the villa, is exceptional. We stayed in the villa on the upper floor which affords great views over the port and the city of Funchal. The fairly easy walk into town was enjoyable, taxi home because of the steep streets back up. Breakfast in the gardens was a delight. The staff are wonderfully kind and hospitable and seem to appreciate working here. I’d say that Madeira has a perfect climate in summer … no more than 24° in the afternoon and maybe 16° at night and the quality of light is as uplifting as you can find anywhere. As my mother (who lived on Tenerife) used to say - ‘always wear a hat’. As seems characteristic of these Atlantic islands, the residential suburbs - such as where Arts In is located - suffer at night from dogs barking. Like the sub-tropical vegetation, it’s the way things are around here.

Porto Moniz is a spectacular part of the world. The biggest attraction is the natural simming pool forming the island stopped the water quiet behind the stones. Becoming a great place to swim: the best of all Madeira. The north coast of the island is spectacular and beautiful, and is very little crowded. Only simming pool in the middle of the day. Porto Moniz és un racó de món espectacular. La major atracció són les picines naturals que la formació de la illa va deixar l'aigua arressarada per línies de roca. Esdevenint un lloc ideal per banyar-se: el millor de tot Madeira. Tota la costa nord de la illa és espectacular i preciosa, i a mes, està molt poc massificada. Només les picines en les hores centrals del dia.

Nice place to spend few days close to the sea.
Nice place to spend few days close to the sea. Out of season was very nice and not so crowded of tourist. It is well connected with some roads, and nice spots as Porto Moniz are not more than 15-20 minutes by car. The town has very nice mix between mountain and see, modern and traditional. If you visit Madeira, you should stop for at least one day here.

La paraula que millor defineix Funchal i Madeira es que es un jardí, molt cuidat, sense grafitis, la gent molt amable, viuen del turisme, pero, no et sens "guiri", una gastronomia que sense ser molt extensa es molt cuidada, el peix molt be, pero, la carn, espectacular!!! Un molt bon lloc per passar unes vacances!!!

Tot!! El personal era súper amable i atent. Les habitacions estaven molt netes i ben equipades. Les instal·lacions estan molt ben cuidades, sobretot els jardins i les piscines. El menjar dels restaurants és boníssim (l’esmorzar també). És molt tranquil, hem estat molt a gust i ens hem relaxat moltíssim. Ho recomano fortament per qualsevol persona que visiti Madeira. És el millor hotel de l’illa.

We got a room with an ocean view - it was wonderful to be able to enjoy such a wonderful view. The food at the hotel was very tasty. Especially the dinners were very varied and delicious! Very friendly, helpful and professional hotel staff. Special thanks to the managers for a very pleasant surprise on our anniversary and my birthday. We will certainly never forget it. It was a very nice surprise. I highly recommend staying at this hotel

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. They truly made us feel like valued guests, and I couldn't have asked for better service. In addition to the fantastic staff, the resort itself is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with comfortable beds. The spa is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a long day at the beach. And speaking of the beach... wow. The Pestana Porto Santo Beach Resort & SPA is situated right on the beach, and it's truly a sight to behold. The water is warm and inviting, and the sand is soft and perfect for lounging. Whether you want to take a dip in the ocean or simply relax under an umbrella with a good book, this beach has it all. Overall, I can't recommend the Pestana Porto Santo Beach Resort & SPA enough. If you're looking for a relaxing beach vacation with top-notch service, this is the place for you. I can't wait to come back and experience it all over again!

it was a stunning experience. this hotel is located by the most beautiful part of Porto Santo beach, where there are no rocks whatsoever. from the hotel, you can access one of the most beautiful places to see the sunset and the swimming pool is AMAZING. Rooms are very tidy, simple, but there is everything you need. and the most important thing. the staff! we were late for our plane and the taxi didn’t arrive so the receptionst took us to the airport in his private car!! can you imagine? it was his idea! 1000000 stars for the staff. i can’t explain how greateful we are! we will definitely be back!

My stay at CR7 was absolutely amazing! The location is unbeatable, with a stunning sea view, even with cruise liners in sight. The rooms were spotless, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They provided complimentary drinks and assisted with everything from car rentals to parking. The culinary experience was outstanding – freshly made omelets and eggs showcased the chef's skill, and the overall freshness and taste were exceptional. I highly recommend CR7 for a perfect blend of luxury, breathtaking views, and top-notch service. It made my time in Funchal truly unforgettable!

My husband and i stayed here over Thanksgiving and we loved it. It's so quiet and pretty and Germana is such a sweet person. My favorite parts were the hot tub which we utilized every night we were there and the delicious breakfast that was dropped off to our door every morning. There's parking for soul glamping and we never had an issue with finding a space, prazeres/calheta is a bit out of the way so a car would be very useful for this area and you are quite far about an hour for the bigger hikes like pico ruvio which I would suggest basing yourself closer to funchal or maybe splitting your trip into two parts because this area is great to stay in!
