The breakfast was excellent. There was plenty of choice and the hot buffet was nicely presented. The room was very comfortable. It was clean and very presentable. The location of the hotel was also very convenient. The reception staff were very pleasant plus the housekeeping lady who helped us with the shower.

We stayed overnight as my husband was going to the Bruce Springsteen concert in Sunderland. We had a sea front room overlooking the green. The facilities in the room were first class. Everything was in pristine condition and the owner Maria was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. She put the heating on so we could dry our clothes which was kind. We had plenty of tea and coffee and one double bed and one single. There was also a fridge and an iron and ironing board. The weather was atrocious so when my husband took the Metro to the concert I stayed in the room overlooking the front reading and relaxing as it was far too wet and windy to venture far sadly so I didn't see the best of the town. The breakfast was wonderful, especially if you had a long journey home as we did.

We absolutely loved the friendliness and attention of the hosts. Trish took great care of us, especially my daughter, giving her time with the horses and donkeys and making her feel part of the family atmosphere they have in the stables. Unfortunately, Jon was not there during our stay, but still maintained an excellent job with the communication.

The weather was so bad that I don't think we saw the best of the town. However the front is very clean and there are a few shops in the town centre plus a cinema and a concert hall. It is a good place to use as a base to visit other places and the bus service is very good if you don't have a car.

I was disappointed there wasn’t a tourist information office but the library staff were very helpful as was the guest house owner. I enjoyed visiting the landmarks and just walking along the coast. The Jam Jar cinema was also worth a visit.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops. It also has easy access to Newcastle and the surrounding area by road and by Metro. In the summer Whitley Bay is busy but in the winter it is much quieter. I have visited this town many times while visiting my daughter. On this occasion my visit was not a holiday; I was helping my daughter to move house.

Stayed 2 nights to enable me to run the Great North Run. Comfortable room in wonderful farm house set in pleasant rural location with super friendly and helpful staff (John & Trish). 3 friendly and well behaved dogs made it feel homely along with the horses and donkey. Plenty of parking space and access to the metro which will take you to the centre of Newcastle and also on a pleasant journey along the coast which is well worth exploring. Very enjoyable stay Thanks David from Bristol.

This guest house is in a perfect, quiet location in Whitley Bay, 10 minute walk to the metro station, close to the Spanish City and sea front and for those who like to do a park run along the coast it couldn’t be more convenient. The property was very clean and Jackie ensured I had more than enough tea/coffee. Jackie was also understanding given I arrived later than expected due to a delayed flight. I will certainly use this guest house again. Thank you Jackie 😀

Friendly, warm welcome from Michael. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the room was very comfortable and relaxing, with a lovely view over the park. The complimentary fizz and chocolates was a nice touch too. The hot breakfast was very tasty and the selection of continental items to choose from was excellent. The location of the hotel was ideal. Only a short walk to the playhouse we were visiting, the beach and local restaurant.

The location was superb, right next to the beach and a 5 minute walk from the town centre. A perfect base for me and my family whilst visiting our family in Whitley Bay. We took the kids paddle boarding at the neighbouring Cullercoats beach. Highly recommended! The hotel was clean and the beds comfortable, thank you for the warm welcome and thank you for a lovely stay! We’ll be back next time!!

Everything was perfect for our one night stay in Whitley Bay. Very warm welcome from Paul & Lee. From the really comfy bedding, to the good selection of toiletries in the ensuite, from the biscuit selection to the local recommendations for where to eat and drink, our stay at the Metropolitan was excellent. Great location for train station and for making the most of the delights of Whitley Bay.
